In this experiment, we measure the mass per unit length of a length of standard physics string by inducing standing waves using a vibration generator and configurable signal generator. By using known relations for wave speed, tension, mass per unit length and frequency of harmonics, configuring a string to be subject to varying tension, and measuring the harmonics' frequency, we are able to determine its length per mass with great accuracy, as confirmed using a scale.
mass per unit length of my string is 0.000798005 kg/m
